Headquartered in Garhoud, Dubai, Emirates is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation of Dubai. As the largest airline in the Middle East, Emirates operates over 3,600 flights per week from its hub at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. The airline serves more than 150 cities in 80 countries across six continents with a fleet of nearly 300 aircraft. Emirates is the world’s fourth-largest airline by scheduled revenue passenger-kilometers flown.
Skytrax has certified Emirates as a 4-Star Airline for the quality of its airport and onboard products and staff service. The product rating includes seats, amenities, food and beverages, in-flight entertainment, and cleanliness. The service rating covers both cabin and ground staff, reflecting the airline’s commitment to delivering high-quality service across the board.

- Comfortable Seats: Emirates’ economy class provides a seat pitch of 31–32 inches on Airbus aircraft and 34 inches on Boeing aircraft, with standard seat width, except on the Boeing 777 fleet, which has 10 seats per row. Each seat features adjustable headrests, a 3000-channel ICE (information, communication, entertainment) in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. There are also in-seat laptop power outlets on newer aircraft, with recharging facilities available in the galleys of older models. Additional recline is offered on the A380 economy class seats.
- In-Flight Entertainment: All Emirates flight classes feature personal in-flight entertainment systems. There are two types: ICE and ICE Digital Widescreen. Introduced in 2003, ICE offers up to 4,000 channels on most flights and is available on the Airbus A380-800, Boeing 777-200LR, and Boeing 777-300ER. ICE Digital Widescreen, launched in 2007, provides over 1,200 channels and is available on all Emirates aircraft. In 2015, Emirates upgraded to the eX3 system, which includes larger screens, improved controls, additional sockets, and features like Bluetooth audio and personal video playback. This system offers around 3,500 channels of movies, TV shows, music, and games. The upgraded ICE is available on all Boeing 777 and A380 aircraft delivered after 2009. Emirates’ ICE system has received more awards for inflight entertainment than any other airline.
- Complimentary Meals and Beverages: Catering for Emirates flights departing from Dubai International is managed by Emirates Flight Catering, one of the largest airline catering facilities globally. Emirates provides special meal options across all classes, accommodating age, dietary restrictions, preferences, and religious requirements. These special meals must be requested at least 24 hours before departure. All meals are prepared in accordance with Halal dietary guidelines.
- Service: Emirates’ economy class offers exceptional service with comfortable seating, diverse in-flight entertainment, complimentary meals, and attentive staff. Overall, Emirates is renowned for its excellent onboard service, making it a preferred choice among travelers.
- Loyalty Program: Emirates’ loyalty program is called Emirates Skywards. As a Skywards member, you earn miles based on the distance flown and fare type on every Emirates ticket booked. For instance, if you fly 20,000 miles, you can accumulate miles that can be redeemed for rewards such as free flights, upgrades, and other perks.
