After months of uncertainty, Delta Air Lines has announced it will resume daily service between New York–JFK and Tel Aviv beginning September 1, 2025. The move marks a reversal from the airline’s abrupt June suspension of the route amid escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Why Delta Paused Tel Aviv Flights

Back on June 13, Israel’s capital was struck by missile attacks from Iran in retaliation for earlier Israeli strikes. In response, Delta canceled all JFK–Tel Aviv flights, initially planning to keep the route suspended through August 31.

Delta’s June statement emphasized passenger and crew safety:

“Delta has paused flights to Tel Aviv (TLV) from New York-JFK through August 31 in response to the current conflict in the region. The safety of our customers and crew remains our top priority.”

The airline promised impacted travelers would receive notifications via the Fly Delta app and could work with Delta or their travel agents on rebooking.

Daily Service Restarts September 1

On Monday, August 18, Delta confirmed that flights will resume as scheduled:

  • Route: New York–JFK → Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion Airport)
  • Aircraft: Airbus A330-900neo
  • Cabin Options: Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin
  • Alliances: Partner seats on Air France and KLM remain available for booking

With Ben Gurion Airport serving as one of the largest aviation hubs in the Middle East, the return of Delta’s daily service is significant for both business and leisure travelers.

Still Monitoring the Security Situation

While flights are back on, Delta stressed that operations could change quickly if tensions flare again.

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew. Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing our operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports.”

This cautionary note reflects the fact that Delta had only just resumed service in spring 2025 before suspending flights again in June.

Why Tel Aviv Matters

  • Strategic hub: Ben Gurion International Airport moves millions of passengers monthly, making it a key gateway for the region.
  • Business & tourism: The city is central to global tech, finance, and culture, with high demand for transatlantic travel.
  • Volatility risk: Security concerns remain an ever-present factor for airlines operating in and out of Israel.

What Travelers Should Know

  • Daily flights return September 1, 2025.
  • Expect Delta to re-evaluate service frequently, based on intelligence and regional security updates.
  • If planning travel, stay flexible and watch for updates from Delta’s official channels.
