DENVER — United Airlines has announced the launch of a new nonstop route from Denver International Airport (DIA) to Carlsbad, California, set to begin March 30, 2026.
This marks the first-ever direct flight connecting Denver and Carlsbad, further strengthening United’s position as the leading carrier in Colorado.
Twice-Daily Nonstop Service
The new route will operate twice daily, offering passengers convenient morning and evening options for travel between Colorado and Southern California.
Tickets are already on sale, with United positioning this new connection as part of its growing domestic network.
Expanding United’s California Network
With the addition of Carlsbad, United now serves 18 destinations in California from Denver — the most of any airline.
The carrier also confirmed that it operates more than 550 daily departures from Denver International Airport, carrying more passengers than any other airline in the state.
This expansion brings United’s total domestic destinations from Denver to over 170.
United’s Statement on the New Route
Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances at United Airlines, highlighted both the strategic and symbolic importance of the new Carlsbad connection:
“With the addition of Carlsbad, United now serves more cities in California than any other airline, but it is the deep connection to the aviation community that makes the airport stand out.”
He continued:
“Carlsbad represents what makes aviation special — passionate pilots starting their careers and building their skills in small communities, eager to fly across the U.S. and globe. Airports like Carlsbad play a vital role in connecting communities and nurturing United’s pilots of tomorrow.”
“I hope these new commercial routes will continue to inspire the next generation as they think of all the places United can take them with a direct connection to a hub like Denver.”
Denver: United’s Fastest-Growing Hub
United Airlines identified Denver as its fastest-growing hub, reflecting continued investment in new routes and infrastructure.
The airline has expanded its operations significantly in recent years, with Denver serving as a central gateway for both domestic and international travel.
Connecting Communities, Inspiring Future Pilots
Beyond expanding its commercial footprint, United’s new Carlsbad route underscores the airline’s commitment to community aviation, pilot development, and regional connectivity.
As Quayle noted, these small-airport links are “vital to nurturing United’s pilots of tomorrow” and strengthening ties between regional airports and global networks.
